Merino/ wool fleece – sustainable fashion
The Meriino is a special breed of sheep that is thought to originate from southern Spain and whose wool is highly prized.
What makes Meriino special is that it is a 100% natural material that is also environmentally friendly. Merino wool surpluses decompose in nature in a short time and act as a fertiliser for mother nature.
However, the fleece (hardened polyester) is made from recycled materials.
Thanks to its thermoregulatory properties, the wool helps regulate body temperature. This means that merino wool provides warmth in cold weather and cooling in warm weather. Merino wool is able to absorb up to 33% of moisture, channelling excess moisture away from the body as water vapour.
In addition, merino wool also offers natural protection against ultraviolet rays.
